Marketing: The Most Essential Skill You Must Learn To Make Money In Any Business


Most people in business, beginners and experienced alike, tend to focus most of their time and energy on their business and the products they sell. That's all well and good, but there is one skill you need to master, if you going to make money...MARKETING!

The essence of marketing is to understand your customer’s needs, and then develop a plan that surrounds those needs. Yet, most entrepreneurs think marketing is nothing more than joining affiliate programs, MLM programs, or promoting programs that scam people out of their money.

With the tons of moneymaking programs you see circulating on the Internet, and flooding mailboxes everyday, it seems that many who are in the marketing field, whether online or off, have forgotten its basic purpose. Hype seems to be replacing the real purpose of marketing these days.

For example, an entrepreneur comes up with an idea—some product or service. He knows he’s always wanted to work for himself and make big money. Now, thanks to his amazing new business, this is exactly what he can do. Nothing else matters except scoring big. Not even the need to understand the prospect and his problem, much less preparing marketing plans and materials that will get this prospect to take action.

What you must always remember is that no matter what business you're in, you are first and foremost a marketer! You are in the business of selling products and services, pure and simple. Therefore, your main purpose as a marketer is to create websites, sales letters, and marketing materials that will help you achieve this objective.

The first thing a potential customer should see when reading your sales letter and other marketing materials, whether it's a one-page website or a printing business, is himself... something about himself... something of use to himself... something that makes him feel good about his favorite subject... himself! Not something about you.

The bottom line of any business, including yours, is profit! It makes no difference what your product or service is. Your ultimate goal is to produce profit... and the engine that makes that happen is marketing!

Your sole objective then, is to attract prospects to your offer, and convince them to exchange their money for your product or service. Your business success and longevity, is tied to your ability to get potential customers to give you their money in exchange for your product or service.
